Well, I am 0 for 2 so far in these monthly quilting goals, but I've been making more progress in my sewing room than I have in a while, so I am going to keep trying!
In February, my goals were to finish my quilt top, and while I didn't get it done in February, I did finish it on March 1!
Marble Mystery Quilt Top |
I used stash fabric for my Marble Mystery Quilt and this is the second Meadow Mist Designs mystery quilt that I've made. Cheryl's directions were excellent and they are still available if you'd like to make a Marble Mystery, or even just a few blocks (I think the individual blocks would make great pillows). I used batiks for everything except the white background fabric. My light blue fabric is directional, and I was way behind in making the clues, so I peeked at the quilt assembly so that I could make all the pieces run the same way. I am really happy with the colors and how they go together. I like this pattern so much that I evaluated making it bigger so that it could be a bed quilt, but alas, I didn't have enough of the navy blue to make more than 1 additional block. That's okay, this will be a great couch quilt. Thanks to Cheryl for another great design!
My second goal was to work on my Flipping Out kit - it didn't come off the table, as I focused on my quilt top and finishing every time I was in my sewing room.
Flipping out kit - same picture as the start of the month |
This kind of makes my goals for March easy - I won't be home but one more weekend in March, so I need to keep things simple. Let's go with the following:
1) Start quilting my Quarter Log Cabin top - I loaded it at the end of January and thought about working on it several times in Feb, but never put it to the top of the list. It should be a relatively easy goal even if I just have an hour. I need to line up the pantograph, and then I can start quilting.
2) Pull out and start working on Flipping Out - same goal as I had in February. Without a big project at the sewing machine this month, let's hope that will be easier to do.
