Michigan Family Vacation - Part 2

Our vacation continued north of the Mackinac Bridge. We drove over the bridge to St. Ignace, thinking it would be a nicer spot to head over to Mackinac Island. It was a great decision! The first stop there was a place Mike had found on Roadside America. The kids and Mike posed in front of Paul Bunyan and his ox, then we started the 170 step trek to the top of Castle Rock. It was a really pretty view of the area. Once down, we headed for lunch, then out to Mackinac Island on the ferry. We spent just under 24 hours on the Island and really enjoyed touring the fort, walking around the car-free island, watching the Girl Scouts do the daily flag raising and lowering, and hiking to Arch Rock. A good time was had by all and we headed back to St. Ignace on the afternoon of July 4th to head for part 3 of the vacation. As with the last vacation post, there are lots of pictures and they are not re-sized, so it may take some time to load them.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures and come back soon to see the final part of the trip.
