Design Wall Monday - July 30 2012

I have a fun post this evening for Design Wall Monday. Some of you know the story of Lois, who gifted me her stash when she passed away. You may also know that my bee and a few of Lois' other quilting friends have worked through her backlog of 55+ UFOs and finished more than half of them to return them to her family. Her sister Marti has been the organizer of the projects and is making sure that everyone in the family has something that fits their personality.

At last year's quilt show, Marti came to see Lois' quilts in the show and brought a gift for me and mom - a quilting stencil to put on the wall. I knew at the time that I would be moving down to the basement in the near future, so I didn't put it up. Time passed as it always does, and I finally got back to it today. My mom came down this afternoon to help hang a few pictures around the house (always faster with a helper!). We decided to put it at the end of the sewing area that leads to my cutting table where there is a lower part of the ceiling to cover duct work (full picture cropped due to massive clutter on and around the cutting table). It definitely took two to get this up, and I love it!

Thanks Marti!

Very cute. Marti sounds like a wonderful friend. She sure did right by her sister too. I hope I get to finish a lot of my UFO's before I leave this earth. Don't want to have others do it for me! I'd better get busy instead of blog reading, huh?

It looks great! So happy you found a place for it! Time has passed so quickly and I can't believe I still hear you finding time for my sister's UFO's. Please continue to let all the bee members know how special it is to know so many of her projects have been competed and passed on, not only to family but to good causes! Thanks for all you have done and continue to do! .
That is awesome! What a great gift that Marti gave for all the time you have put into Lois' UFOs. :)
