Stash Report - Week 5

Not too much sewing this week - I spent some time stitching, some time reading, and lots of time at the beginning of the week binding, so I could finish off my January UFO.

My mom and I ventured out in the snow yesterday to visit the sales at the local cross stitch and quilt store. I had a very good time at the cross stitch store, buying linen and thread to make several patterns I have bought previously, and I also got on thing that I hope to make into a Christmas gift for next year. Then, we headed to the quilt store where I had one mission - backing fabric for my five easy pieces quilt. It is my first quarter UFO for my bee and I haven't even started on it because I couldn't find the right fabric for the back. I wandered through the sale room first and didn't see anything that was even a remote possibility. Then, we went over to look at the extra wide backings and I found one that will work. The best part of buying an extra wide is that I only had to buy a little over 3 yards, rather than the 9 I'd have had to buy if I bought regular width fabric. I was very happy about that and hope to get the backing pressed and loaded today then open up the batting to let it breath a little. Best case, I hope to be quilting on it by next weekend. I also picked up a magazine while I was waiting at the register because of the cute little grab bags in it. If you don't know already, I am addicted to bags!

Last night, I got going on a couple blocks - finished two paper pieced lanterns from quilters cache, then started on an navajo square for last year's guild president. I will head back upstairs shortly to finish that one.

I took a bit of a hit this week on my stash and pattern reporting, but I am okay with that, and I should have the backing busted by next week.

That is great backing fabric! And not a big hit to the report because it will be busted as soon as you start quilting!

I always throw my batting int he dryer with a wet washcloth or rag to let it tumble around for about 30 minutes. It helps it release the folds pretty well. :)
