Stash Report - Week 29

The stash week started out great, as I gave some fabric to my mom to make a couple dresses for Haiti and finished up my own. These will head to Haiti with the husband of one of our guild members - she collected around 150 dresses in all!

From there, I worked on UFOs for my friend Lois' family. We had a bee work day on Monday and I kinda turned it into a UFO sweat shop! We got three tops finished, three backs made, and two quilts basted so they are ready for quilting (and one that I didn't bring home is already done!). My fabric didn't take a hit for any of this, as I am not counting any stash used for Lois' projects in my report.

I also got another big baby nine patch blanket done, so now have those all ready to gift/mail. My mom added the name with her embroidery machine and they are in the dryer right now. Will be packed up so I can drop them at post office tomorrow.

Last night, I decided that I didn't want to do any quilting, so I wandered in and picked up the batiks from my Five Easy Pieces quilt that I started over a year ago. I've had all the blocks made for ages, but was procrastinating on cutting the side setting triangles (why, I don't know). I got the remaining 5 cut and started piecing the quilt last night. It is gonna be bright and scrappy! It is intended for our bed, and I think we may wind up needing sunglasses to sleep under it! There are 11 rows to put together and here are the first three. As you can see, I am running out of room on the design wall, so I will have to go to another location as I get to the center rows.

All in all, it was a great week for the report, so here it is:

Fabric added this week: 0
Fabric used this week: 3 1/8 yards

Fabric added year to date: 18 5/8 yards
Fabric used year to date: 76 3/8 yards

Net fabric used: 57 3/4 yards!

Hope you all had a great week too and stop by Judy's blog if you want to see how everyone else did!

I enjoy reading about your progress. I was inspired by you to accept 4 UFO's of a quilter who died. I actually hand-sewed a top of Drunkard's Path blocks. All but one of the blocks were already made, hand sewn. It is, however, going to be machine quilted, and the borders on by machine. The rest of the UFO's are partially machine pieced, so that should go quicker. Good luck on you friend Lois's - I think she left you a LOT of UFO's.

I have to say, I procrastinate on setting triangles too. Looks great and to use up stash for a cause is a good feeling, too.
