Seeing as how we're halfway through the year, I thought it would be a good time to update my goal progress. I do it periodically in the sidebar, but I will add a little more commentary here.
- Report my stash usage and acquisition - I have faithfully reported each week and have made great progress. It really does make me think twice about picking up something cute - not only because I have a small quilt shop worth of fabric in my basement - but also because I know I am going to have to 'fess up come Sunday!
- Finish at least 4 more UFOs - Three down, two to go - I have finished My Carnival Quilt (started in 2009),
the Snap Sack table runner (also started in 2009),
and The July Stars wallhanging (this will be a shocker, also started in 2009).
I really would like to make the fourth finish something bigger - like a wall or bed quilt, and something that's been hanging around a little longer.
- Locate, divide amongst bee, and help to finish Lois' UFOs -making good progress and will post a separate update on this one.
- Quilt a dozen items on the HQ - 9 quilted so far - am doing well on this goal and have a large stack of Lois' UFOs to work on, so I should make this one before I get into the holiday homestretch!
- Fall table topper - In progress (Judy L quilt) - need to get back to this one - I am at the pieced border and then have a few more borders to add. I do want to get this one done and hopefully quilted before Thanksgiving.
- Twin size bed quilt for Jenna - I have been perusing my books for this quilt and also went through Lois' UFO stuff last weekend. She had a french braid quilt in Jenna's favorite colors (pink, purple, and green) that she had barely started, so I may repurpose that and make it Jenna's (I am pretty sure she'd approve)
- Five easy pieces king size bed quilt for us - I've cut a couple more pieces for the setting triangles and only have 10 or less to cut. I will need to buckle down and get working on this soon if I want to get it done this year (and I do!).
- Do something without a pattern - I am signed up for Esterita Austin's class in October when she visits our guild, so that should fulfill that requirement. I am thinking of making a quilt of this picture Mike took in New Mexico last year on our vaca.
- Start on a bed quilt for Michelle and Steve - haven't even started this one...I've looked at a few patterns and thought about it a bit, but haven't gotten going yet.
- Make more table runners - Made two so far, one more cut out, and I have at least one table runner UFO. I'd like to get at least one more done for us and one for a holiday gift because, yikes, I bought another kit for one in Columbus a few weeks ago!
Overall, I feel pretty good about the progress. I still have a lot to do in the 2nd half of the year, but do have a retreat coming up in October. My mom and I have earmarked a couple of joint projects to work on at the retreat, but I will still take a few of the ones above to work on as well.
Did you have plans for the year? How are you coming along?
