Snow in July

On Thursday afternoon, I took off early from work and started a 4 1/2 day weekend. My mom, a bee friend, and I headed south to visit a quilt shop that had just moved into a new, bigger store. I got what I wanted at Ady's, the new fabric gel pens, in red, blue, and black. Now I can use some of those premade labels that I always seem to pick up! On the way home we decided to visit The Fussy Cut, a new shop in the area, about 10 minutes from where I work (and I hadn't been there yet!). They are a small shop, but had a nice selection of flannel, blenders, and some new patterns that we hadn't seen elsewhere. I didn't buy anything at the time, but will be headed back soon to pick up some fabric for a purse lining (yes, another purse...I think I have an addiction!).

Mike and the kids went to his mom's for dinner to celebrate her birthday, so I had an evening to sew. I got the quilting and binding done on my snow wall hanging, another UFO completed! I machine stitched the binding to the back, then pulled it over to the front. It looks pretty good, but the corners could be a little better...I'll practice again soon.

Over the course of the extended weekend, I also finished the final blocks for two other quilts. I am hoping to get the first one together within the next week, so you'll see what I decided to do with my log cabins! I also started the applique project that I wanted to do this month. I need to add borders and decide how I want to stitch it, then I will post a picture.
