A couple months ago, my mom gave me a quilt to throw on the frame and play with...it is one she did at a retreat a couple years ago and just wasn't ever crazy about, so it was a good one for me to practice with. I will let her tell the whole story and show a full picture on her blog.
I was inspired by photos in a webshots album that I saw ages ago and had that idea in mind for quilting this one, although I quickly realized my skill isn't even close to this lady's. I thought it would be a great chance to try out my Micro handles that I bought a couple months ago, because I could practice intricate designs in each of the sections.
I loaded the quilt several weeks ago and it sat while I tried to decide what to do with it. I finally got going on it about a week ago and finished it up this weekend. I used Bottom Line on the top and bottom and had some tension issues with the red fabric on the border (but the rest were okay - wierd). I spent about 4 hours quilting this and it is only a wall hanging size. I wound up with lots of neck and shoulder aches from it because I was bent over the handles, in a chair too tall, and a little too tense about it.
In the end, it is okay, but I still have lots and lots of practice to do. I thought I would show the one part I am really proud of - the center. I did a sun image with figure eights around the circle.

And here's the back - you can see all that went into it. I think it will be a while before I pick up the micro handles again!
