I had a goal this month of getting two quilts on and off the HQ (and quilted too!), and I just finished the second one with a whole hour to spare!
This is the quilt for my nephew who spent the first half of this year in Iraq, also the one many of you voted on the layout for. I decided to go with the layout below after a tie between this one and one of the others. Mike made the deciding vote because he thought this was a better guy pattern.
I quilted the top all over with loops and stars and used YLI on the top and Robison Anton on the bottom. It was my first time to use YLI and I really like it. I also gotta give some love to the R-A thread. I had this on hand as a leftover from a quilt I did earlier this year and am glad that I had it. I think this may become my favorite bobbin thread.
Here's a closeup of the quilting!
Now that I have this part done, I just need to decide what to bind it in - the outer border (Air Force fabric) or the inner border (navy blue). I'll try to get a picture with both of them when I square up the quilt and cut off the extra binding, but I am hoping to get the binding made and put on this weekend. Let's hope the kids take good naps!

I would go with the Navy for the binding if it was me.
