January 2026 - Plugging along

I can't remember the last time I had a month without any finishes, but that's how I started the year. My weekends were a blur of work, getting kids back to school, helping my parents, and travel north and travel south. I stitched a fair amount and started a new project, but didn't get anything to the finish line. With so little time at home on the weekends, I didn't touch any sewing or FFOing either.

Since I don't have finishes to show, I'll share a few other pictures.

We started the year with a ski trip to northern Michigan. We had great snow and a great time overall. Three days of skiing Nub's Nob and Boyne Highlands felt like the perfect way to start the year.
I did some basement cleanout over the holidays and found my prom dress (!!) - my daughter tried it on and it fit perfectly, she's keeping it!
Went to Savannah with my cousins to celebrate Mary's birthday. It was a fun weekend of dolphins, parks, pizza, drinks, and girl time. I was one of the lucky ones who made it home only a few hours late!

Our cat very happy to have my home after much of the month away.
And a huge basket of laundry behind her!

I am looking forward to February where I plan to be home every weekend. I hope to make some progress on quilts and FFOs during the month and should get at least one stitching project to the finish line. I'll be stitching along with Katie (The Naptime Stitcher on IG and Etsy) during the winter Olympics. She puts on a great stitch-along with prompts for every day. I can't wait! What could be better than watching the Olympics and stitching?

Hope you've had a good start to the year. I will continue tracking the same three stats as I did last year, so here are my not-very-exciting stats for January:

Stitching time with Kate from Life in Pieces
21/31 days with at least 15 minutes of stitching = 68%

Stash Report with Donna at quiltpaintcreate
0 yards added in January
0 yards used in January
Net fabric used: 0 yards

Project Completion tracking:
Quilting - no new starts, no finishes = 8 projects waiting to be finished
Stitching - no finishes, no FFOs = 38 projects waiting to be FFO'ed

Let's hope I have some more exciting things to share at the end of February!
