Two October quilting goals

My two quilting goals normally help me with focus and encouragement to spend more time in my sewing area, but this month I don't need any encouragement because I am getting ready for my annual quilt retreat in Shipshewana.

I have a few must-do items:

  • Prep and pack for retreat - this means picking out projects, doing some pre-cutting, and packing it all up to leave on Wednesday morning
  • Finish my challenge project - the top is complete and it will be quilted today, so binding will be the last step and I can do that the first night I am at retreat.
And then I know I will get lots of good sewing in at retreat...so do I need two goals? Maybe not, but let's put a few stretch goals out here anyway.

1. Make a back - I have three finished tops, so I'd like to get a back made for one of them so that I can get going on the quilting. I have backing fabric for one confirmed, so that might be the easy one, but we'll see what mood strikes me.

2. Inventory table runners to see if I need to fill out my collection. I have two tables where I generally put table runners and I like to rotate them each season. I have lots of great patterns and like that table runners are quick and easy projects. I'd like to see what seasons I have enough of and which ones I need to add so that I can plan some of my future projects.

In addition to my two goals, I'll be working on a new quilt top and several other smaller projects at retreat. It should be fun and I'll be back at the start of November to share all that I've been up to.

Preparing for a retreat is sometimes a drag, but it pays off when you have all that time to sew. Enjoy the retreat.
