February 2025 - Full of FFOs

I was lucky in February to have fairly free weekends and I get the most of my crafting done on the weekends, so I have lots to show. Overall the month was a good one - lots of long days at work as I am still getting settled into my new position, but also long stretches of time on the weekend to sew and stitch.

I thought I'd go sequentially through the month this time - the month started with stitching on Saturday morning and some time in the sewing room Saturday afternoon. That resulted in a stitching finish in the morning and then an FFO in the afternoon on Feb 1, a great start to the month.

First ornament finish of the year!

Gather Blessings by Hands on Design
Stitched on a scrap of linen with called for threads

On Sunday the 2nd, I also had a good amount of time in my sewing room and sewed a quick pillow, then fully finished two more pieces!
Travel size pillow made from my son's t-shirt
(The shirt was a gift and he managed to rip it up the side - not repairable,
but perfect size for a travel pillow.)

Blitzen, a wool embroidery pattern by ___
Sewed together and will hang with mini clothespins (when I get them!)

Winterly Sampler by Robin Pickens
I stitched this as a shop model for Persnickety Stitcherswith the called for DMC thread.
I finished this one just as Robin did on her pattern - I was able to find the fabric at one of my local quilt stores. I love the simplicity of this finish and will enjoy seeing it each time I go into the shop.

That was a great start to the month. For the next few weeks, I worked on block assembly for my marble mystery quilt - I enjoyed putting all the pieces up on my design wall as I finished each step.
I took a break in the middle of quilt top assembly for another FFO - I ordered a hoop for a simple finish on this one. I had to add a few additional rows of stitching on the edges so that the design would continue right into the hoop and I really like how it turned out.

Stitched on Fiddler's Cloth with called for DMC threads

The month ended with me getting the center of my Marble Mystery assembled - I didn't get to the borders, but am really pleased with the progress I did make. I did sneak a peek at the final design before I started assembling blocks because my light blue fabric is directional. I was able to put it together so it's all going the same direction!

My month wrapped up with a stitching finish that was also a February start - I bought this pattern at Nashville Needlework Market two years ago and pulled it out as part of the #makewayformarketsal, a stitch-a-long to work on projects bought at prior markets before going to this year's market. I really enjoyed stitching this with the thread and linen that came in the kit - it was my first time using Cottage Garden Threads and I really liked the variegation in the stitches, this pattern was perfect to show it.

That's a wrap on February - I have three trips scheduled in March so it will be a quieter month from a crafting perspective, but I am looking forward to a return to the Nashville Needlework market, a visit to my daughter at school, and then a quick trip to Chicago with her at the end of the month. I'll be bringing my stitching along!

My stats for the month are pretty good given the fabric usage and number of FFOs, it's a good way to start off the year.

Stitching time with Kate at Life in Pieces - 25/28 days with at least 15 minutes of crafting = 86%

Stash Report with Donna at quiltpaintcreate
Fabric added this month: 0 yards
Fabric used this month: 3/4 yard
Fabric added year to date: 0 yards
Fabric used year to date: 4 yards
Net fabric used: 4 yards

Project completion tracking:
Stitching projects: 2 finishes, 4 fully finishes = 38 pieces to be FFO'ed
Quilting projects: 1 new start (pillow), 1 finish = 7 projects waiting to be fully finished

Thanks for stopping by to see all the February projects - hope that you found plenty of time for your crafting in February too!

Looks like you are on a roll getting projects finished. I like your version of Marble Mystery. Kudos for getting all the directional fabric going the correct way. That's amazing.

Your version of the Marble Mystery is very cool, beautiful color palette. Congrats on all the progress in February. It was a short month, but you definitely made the most of it.
