November 2024 Recap

Wow, here we are at the start of the last month of the year! November was a busy month for me with a change in jobs at work (same company, new position) which meant finishing up the old job while starting to learn the new one. As I closed my computer last week, I am pretty close to fully transitioned and looking forward to some new challenges. Activities this month included an evening at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Spongebob musical at the local high school, a very soggy day of hiking at Turkey Run State Park, and a nice visit with family for Thanksgiving. In between all these activities, you know I found time to stitch and sew. I've been spending a bit more time working on quilts the last month which I am really enjoying. December 2024 Recap - working well with a list

I know I am not alone in wondering how December got here so quickly this year. They say time flies and I think they are right! I had a lot of items to complete at the start of this month so I did what any good type A person does and I made a list. It had six items on it that I wanted to finish before the end of the year...with one of those items being four things and another being nine things...I might have been setting myself up for failure, but I'd never know unless I tried, so off to work I went. On the quilting side, I had a box with four shirts from my friend's dad (he passed away earlier this year and I offered to make something with some of his clothes). Her mom asked me to make something for each of the five grandchildren and I thought pillows would be nice - I could incorporate some of each shirt and it would be something they could really use. October 2024 - Retreat Recap

I always love the promise that October brings with cooler weather and changing colors. It might also be a favorite month because it means that it's quilt retreat time! As you may have noticed, I am not quilting nearly as much the last few years, but I love retreat because it gives me dedicated time to play with fabric. Whether I am making a new top, finishing an older one or working on a WIP or a bag, I really enjoy the time with my sewing machine. This October was no different! The first few weeks of the month were mostly focused on cross-stitch and crochet, but then my attention turned to quilting as I prepped for retreat. I worked on five projects at my retreat, would you like to see them? My first project was my challenge project - each year, one person chooses fabric from the sale room at Lolly's Quilt Shop and each person makes something with 1/2 yard of it (or more if she choses a bigger project).
